Renowned architecture studio Snøhetta has joined forces with home goods company Vipp to create a collection of luxury holiday cabins . Situated above a fjord in rural Norway, the luxury cabins feature generous glazing designed to make visitors feel as if they are floating on the edge of the cliff.

The Bolder Star Lodges project consists of four luxury lodges (although at the time of writing only three are completed), which stand on concrete pillars. Their exteriors are very similar to each other and consist of an asymmetrical shape finished in untreated red cedar that will eventually weather and turn gray over time, helping them blend into the rocky landscape at Lysefjorden on the west coast of Norway. Each of the cabins is accessed by a Corten steel bridge.

Inside, they measure square meters. The layout is atypical, placing the kitchen and dining room upstairs, while the ground floor contains a built-in bed overlooking the landscape, as well as a bathroom. Although the interior of each cabin is slightly different, they all feature decor that echoes Vipp's previous tiny house project and is defined by dark hues and genero C Level Executive List us glass. High-end materials such as oak, marble and leather contrast with the raw concrete floor on the lower level.
Snøhetta also thought about the project's impact on its surroundings. During construction, trees that needed to be removed were set aside to be reused in construction, while granite extracted from the ground was also reused during the construction process.

“With the Bolder project, we strive to preserve nature and improve the experience of moving in a pristine landscape, with the smallest possible footprint on the environment,” said Frank Denis Foray of Snøhetta. «The luxury cabins are raised above the ground to create a feeling of weightlessness on the edge of the spectacular, steep mountain slopes, plunging into the light blue fjord. “The goal was to create a total experience for visitors: to return to a cozy, warm, wooden place with a spectacular panoramic view of the ever-changing weather after a beautiful day of walking along the fjord.”
Although Vipp describes them as “off-grid,” the luxury cabins are actually powered by the grid. However, the water is obtained naturally from a nearby spring (and filtered in a water treatment system).
